If you've been considering investing in the project management software Asana but you're wondering how it can work for you– this post is for you. In this article, I give you a full Asana review of how I use it in my business. Plus, I have an Asana discount code to share where you can get 10% off an annual plan (see below for details!).

A few years ago, I was spinning a lot of plates in the air.

Those plates were actually projects, and I kept dropping the plates over and over again.

Shit just wasn't getting done in my business. Well, not on the level I knew it could. Between 45 Google docs (a lot of them named Untitled), dozens of sticky notes, pieces of loose paper, several iNotes, and hundreds of emails… I was drowning in preparation but lacked execution.

I resisted joining a project management software because I believed I had everything I needed already. Didn't you see my list up there? I didn't need another tool (or bill!) to help me get things done. I just needed more time… more energy… more willpower… and more productivity.

It wasn't until I had a coaching call with a mentee that she showed me how she used Asana. It was then that I realized how wrong I was. And I've been using it for almost five years since.

I'll share with you what Asana is, what it can do, how I use Asana in my business and a discount code for you to save 10% on Asana‘s annual plans! Enjoy this Asana review!

What is Asana?

Asana is the work management platform teams use to stay focused. Focused on what? Their goals, projects, and the daily tasks that grow business.

Think of Asana as the ultimate business manager, helping you get more done while staying organized and on top of *everything.*

What does Asana help you do?

  • Get Organized: Plan and structure work in a way that's best for you. Set priorities and deadlines. Share details and assign tasks. All in one place.
  • Stay on Track: Follow projects and tasks through every stage. You know where work stands and can keep everyone aligned on goals.
  • Hit Deadlines: Create visual project plans to see how every step maps out over time. Pinpoint risks. Eliminate roadblocks. Even when plans change.
  • Communicate with Your Team: Back and forth team emails? Not anymore. Asana allows you to collaborate and communicate with your team on any task, project, or idea. It's a better way to communicate.

Launch Plans

Let's start off this Asana review with launch plans!

I couldn't launch my coaching mastermind for wedding professionals, WeddingPro Insiders, without Asana or my membership for wedding planners, The Planner's Playbook. Asana also helped me launch my Shopify storefront, The Candice Coppola Shop.

With Asana, I'm able to create a full launch plan for every product I create. It includes tasks, deadlines, and notes – all of which make sure my launch is a success. From idea generation to your post-launch debrief, a project management tool helps you get more done.

But Asana isn't just for launching coaching programs or online stores; it's perfect for tracking the launch of anything in your business. Consider using Asana to launch a new product, a new website, a new service, or a new employee – you name it. The best part? You can save your launch project as a template and use it every time you launch the same product/service. That's right, no starting from scratch.

Genius.

Content Calendars & Marketing Plans

Want to market your business effectively?

Get consistent.

I thought it would be important in this review to talk about how I use Asana to manage my marketing. I took a marketing plan I had from an untitled google doc and fleshed out a kick-ass, in-depth marketing schedule that I update every 90 days.

Asana lets me track what I'm posting, what content buckets I'm filling, how I'm leading people to products – and even what stage my content is in. I also get to use this marketing plan to repurpose my content across multiple platforms.

Using Asana to manage my content calendar and marketing plan has kept me accountable. It's also given me the space to see what I need to get done and when. My team even gets to see our marketing strategy and give their input!

Plus, who doesn't LOVE checking shit off your list? (Side note: sometimes, I add a task to my list that I've already done just so I can check it off. Am I a textbook enneagram 3 or what?)

Weekly High-Level Task List

Every Sunday morning, I sit down at my desk for about 30 minutes and map out the week ahead. I love a physical, hard copy planner – so I use my Full Focus Planner to look at the days ahead – and my Weekly High-Level Task List in Asana to get tasks scheduled for completion.

It's gotten to a point now where I can't function without doing this. When I'm sitting at my desk, tempted to check out the latest beauty guru drama on YouTube, I double-check my Weekly High-Level Task List first – to make sure I'm free to binge on tea.

I schedule out tasks every Sunday for the week, and because I do, I get more done. Whether it's going Live in my Facebook group or writing a blog post like this one, I schedule all tasks inside Asana for each day.

Content Management for My Mastermind

Each month, I release a variety of foundational business training, done-for-you content, and a schedule for personalized coaching sessions for my mastermind, WeddingPro Insiders. I would never be able to do this with thought and intentionality unless I had Asana.

Asana helps me release content for my program by letting me see how the program looks over several months. I can schedule tasks and sub-tasks and delegate all the work to my subcontractors.

It's given me a system and a process for how I approach teaching my mastermind members – and I'm never left scrambling to finish pieces of training or schedule something for the mastermind.

In fact, I produce most of the content well in advance.

If you want to produce content for your programs in advance (or your clients!), click here to for a 10% Asana discount code.

Podcast Management

Running a podcast is work, y'all!

I use Asana to help produce my podcast, The Power in Purpose, in a variety of different ways.

  • Scout new guests (and monitor guest diversity and topics)
  • Prepare for new guest interviews
  • Map out the process of producing one episode from scheduling to publish

My content calendar helps me schedule podcast episodes throughout the year, which gives me insight into what might be timely for my audience.

Producing my podcast is very second nature now, but when I started, I had no idea what I was doing. Having Asana to lean on to remind me to upload an episode to Dropbox, or email a guest about their interview, helped me to develop systems and processes in my biz.

Got a podcast, too? First, I want to listen. Please comment with your link below so I can check out your show! Next, sign up for Asana so you can manage your podcast better (and save 10%!)

Things to Do Better

The final mention in this Asana Review is my ‘thing to do better' project.

In business, we have to be constantly learning and growing. Part of that growth is examining what we can do better.

Every day I learn something new or see how I could do something better, which is why I created an Asana project for me to log these epiphanies. I am able to track how I am going to update a system, process, or way of doing things inside my business.

Things to Do Better is a small project but a powerful one. These ideas add up to more significant results, ease, and a better experience for my clients.
