Teejah Fitchette is the owner of Black Orchid Events, a wedding planning company based in Maryland. She also serves clients in the DMV area and destinations around the world. As CEO and Lead Planner, Teejah is dedicated to building relationships with each of her clients and ensuring the seamless execution of their events.
After planning her wedding in 2008, Teejah knew she needed to pursue her love for planning and design. She always had a passion for planning events. Teejah also loves all the small details that come together to make a grand statement. What started as a hobby for close family and friends has blossomed into a passionate journey for her.
Teejah started Black Orchid Events in 2016 and is proud to have been part of many memories along the way. No matter the celebration, she is committed to making her client's day memorable and stress-free. From selecting the perfect décor elements to carefully selecting delicious treats, she will see her clients through every step. After all, it's what Teejah's company is all about—bringing their client's vision to life to create lasting memories for them and their guests.

How would you describe your wedding design, planning, and coordination style at Black Orchid Events?
With a listening ear, we create beautiful, unforgettable events for our clients that are inspired by each individual story. We guide our clients through a planning process that is completely tailored to them and their specific needs. In addition, we want them to feel relaxed and spend time relishing in the moment of building their forever.
What type of couples do you love working with at Black Orchid Events?
All in all, we love working with couples who LOVE hard. They also love to celebrate life's moments with an over-the-top celebration with those they hold near and dear.
Your business is GROWING this year! What fun and exciting things are you hoping to do/accomplish?
With my wedding planning business based in Maryland, I am looking forward to a destination retreat with fellow planners/designers. I'm also excited to book more clients and provide more beautiful inspiration for our future couples.

What's your favorite part of working with your clients on the planning, design, and/or coordination of their wedding?
By and large, a favorite is seeing the look on my client's faces when they see their vision realized. And the moment they say “I do”! It reminds me of watching a beautiful, romantic movie every time.
