If you’re a wedding planner staring at a blinking cursor, wondering what on earth to write about on your blog—you’re not alone. Finding blogging ideas for wedding planners can feel overwhelming when you’re already juggling clients, timelines, and vendor calls. But the truth is, a strategic blog is one of the most powerful marketing tools you have.
Not only does blogging help you get found on Google, it also builds trust, showcases your expertise, and attracts your dream clients before they even hit “inquire.”
But what should you write about? And how can you come up with blogging ideas that actually move the needle?
In this post, I’m sharing five blogging ideas for wedding planners. Whether you’re new to blogging or looking to refresh your content calendar, this list will help you show up as the expert you are and start attracting the right couples to your business.

1. How to Plan a Wedding in [Your City]
Location-based content is one of the most effective blogging ideas for wedding planners. These types of blogs show up in local search results and connect with couples planning weddings in your area. A blog post like “How to Plan a Wedding in Charleston, SC” or “Your Guide to Planning a Wedding in Napa Valley” instantly positions you as a local expert. That’s exactly what your couples are looking for!
What to include in this blog:
- The best time of year to get married in your city
- Unique venue options or local hidden gems that you love to work at
- Key vendors and what to book early (your wedding planner!)
- Local weather tips, permit info, or travel guidance
You can also highlight local traditions, seasonal floral availability, or fun activities for out-of-town guests. These personal touches make your content more valuable and build trust with couples who are new to the area.
Why it works: Couples love practical planning help that feels personalized to their location—and Google loves location-specific content too. These posts not only attract traffic from search engines, but they also help you build relationships with local venues and vendors by featuring them in your content.
2. A Real Wedding Recap (with Tips!)
One of the best ways to build trust with potential clients is to share real weddings you’ve planned. But instead of just posting a gallery of photos, turn it into an educational blog post that showcases your expertise and decision-making.
What to include in this blog:
- A summary of the couple’s vision and how you brought it to life
- Unique challenges you overcame or creative solutions you implemented
- Vendor shoutouts (tag them and let them know!)
- Actionable takeaways for readers (ex: “Why a First Look Helped This Timeline Flow Perfectly”)
You can also include small, unexpected moments that made the day feel extra special or talk about how you kept things on track when something didn’t go as planned. Adding real behind-the-scenes details helps readers envision themselves working with you.
Why it works: This type of content blends inspiration with strategy. It shows potential clients how you work, how you think, and what it’s like to have you by their side on one of the most important days of their lives. Plus, it gives you fresh content to share on social media, tag vendors, and drive traffic back to your site.
3. Your Wedding Planning Process—Step by Step
So many couples are overwhelmed by wedding planning and don’t even know where to begin. This is your opportunity to walk them through your process and build trust before they even book a consultation. A clear, step-by-step explanation helps them feel more confident and excited about hiring you.
What to include in this blog:
- How you start working with a new client
- Key milestones in the planning timeline
- What’s included in each phase of your services
- Tools or systems you use (like HoneyBook)
You can also share your communication style, how often clients can expect updates, and how you make the process as stress-free as possible. This kind of transparency helps position you as both approachable and professional. Use language that shows how your process supports your clients from the first call to the final send-off.
Why it works: When couples understand your planning process, they’re less intimidated and more likely to trust you. It gives them a peek into what it’s like to work with you and helps filter in the right-fit clients who value your approach and systems.
4. Top Mistakes Couples Make (And How to Avoid Them)
Next on the list of blogging ideas for wedding planners, is more educational content. Educational content performs well because it empowers your audience with information they didn’t even know they needed. This type of post also positions you as a problem-solver and a true expert in your field. It’s your chance to share insights you’ve gathered from real experiences and gently point out the value of professional planning.
Examples of topics:
- “5 Wedding Planning Mistakes Couples Make Without a Planner”
- “The #1 Mistake Couples Make When Building Their Wedding Day Timeline”
- “What NOT to Do When Choosing a Venue”
You can even share stories (without naming names!) of real situations where you helped clients avoid or recover from these missteps. Bonus points if you include a call to action to book a consultation or link to related resources you’ve created.
Why it works: It educates while building authority. Couples realize how much you know—and how much easier their lives will be when they hire you.
5. Your Favorite Wedding Venues in [Your Area]
Couples start their planning process by booking a venue—so this is the perfect blog post to get found early in their search. A post like “Top 5 Wedding Venues in Dallas, TX (Planner Approved!)” is a great way to drive traffic and show off your local knowledge. It also sets you up as someone who knows the ins and outs of each location.
What to include in this blog:
- Your favorite ceremony and reception spots
- What you love about each venue (be honest and helpful!)
- Venue capacity, style, pros and cons
- Insider tips from weddings you’ve done there
- Photos to showcase the space in action
This post also creates opportunities to tag the venues on social media, build vendor relationships, and potentially get re-shared by the venues themselves.
Why it works: Venue content performs incredibly well in search and helps couples envision what’s possible. It builds trust by showing that you’ve been there, done that—and are ready to guide them every step of the way.

DAY TWO // WPI Spring Retreat 💜
If Day 1 was about getting closer to the question, Day 2 was about getting honest with the answer.
We came back together over mimosas and morning hugs (a WPI staple at this point 😉) and got right back into refinement — this time turning the lens inward. What are you actually building? And are your standards, your pricing, and your daily reality all telling the same story?
The member gives went THERE. We talked about how a systems strategist can help you untangle your process, and how saying no (A LOT) helped two photographers book better weddings.
I spoke about two important topics: setting standards and nervous system – two topics that have become very important inside WPI!
In between these conversations was room for the good stuff: small group breakouts, real talk, a few happy tears, a homemade Caribbean lunch (those pressed sandwiches 🤌), and an afternoon of feet in the pool and brains fully stretched.
Not pictured was the homemade Guac I whipped up and other poolside treats!
All these gorgeous moments captured by our retreat photographer + my business bestie @c10ike 💜💜💜
You might see the highlight reel and think ending up here was always my plan all along but you’d be wrong.
Like any good career, there have been lots of pivots and hiccups, and lessons that had to be learned the hard way.
Not seen here? The time…
- I forgot to add chairs to a rental order and ended up footing the $2,000 bill
- A client sat across from me crying that I ruined her wedding because her parents table had a low centerpiece
- I had to borrow $4,000 from Grandma Vera to make payroll, because I didn’t pay attention to my numbers
- About a hundred “dream clients” hired a different planner than me and I felt like an absolute failure
- I cried in my car before a wedding because I was completely and totally overwhelmed with the amount of responsibility on my shoulders (OK, maybe I did this more than once)
- My seasonal launch of The Planner’s Playbook completely bombed and I felt like my entire business was falling apart
…and roughly 700 other moments I’ve chosen to leave off the highlight reel.
So if you’re at the messy, nothing’s-working stage right now? Just know that if you have been to one wedding in your life, you are starting with more experience than I had.
I’m getting ready to embark on an exciting new chapter that I cannot wait to share with you… it’s big, and scary, and I’m sure in another few years I’ll have a lot more lore to share… but in the meantime…
Cheers to all the ups and downs I’ve experienced over the last 19 years!
And a special thanks to the photographers who made a lot of this lore possible: @c10ike @allanzepedaphoto @stevedepino @withincreative @robertandkathleen @thebrandedbosslady 💜🫶🏼😘
I’ve come to realize that many of us want to have a village, but we don’t recognize that we have to be a villager first.
My friend carla @c10ike is one of those rare exceptions and I want to introduce you to her!
When I started my planning business, I had no contacts and no real idea what I was doing. I was so green it makes me laugh to look back on it now!
And somehow, I got lucky enough to be taken under the wing of this incredible woman who showed up for me then when I was a little baby business owner, and has kept showing up ever since in more ways than I could possibly count.
She’s taught me so much over the years, and I don’t mean in the traditional sense of teaching someone something. She simply lived her life, and I paid attention.
She modeled what it means to be a friend.
A sister.
A daughter.
A wife.
A mother.
A business owner.
A boss.
I learned generosity by watching her be generous.
Compassion, connection, leadership… none of it came from advice. All of it came from the way she carries herself and the way she treats the people around her.
She has taught me more than she will ever know by the sheer act of living loudly and joyfully in every corner of her life.
I am so lucky to call her my friend. So lucky to be one of the many, many people she has been a villager for.
Carla thank you for letting me grow up right beside you. I love you. 🤍
