If you’ve ever been to Barbados than you’ve definitely had our famous rum punch. Annndddd you’ve definitely ordered more than one in a sitting.
Our clients love serving this delicious cocktail at their wedding in fun glassware or a fresh coconut. So, what makes the Bajan rum punch different from others? Our world-class rum to start! But the most unique ingredient is the freshly grated nutmeg on top.
If you’re ever in Barbados, head to the Cruising Club for the best rum punch on the island (trust me, I’m expert enough to say that I’ve tried them all!). Until then, here’s the recipe to make it at home. When in doubt, just use the Bajan counting method: 1 of sour, 2 of sweet, 3 of strong and 4 of weak.
And before you dive into the recipe, here's a word of warning: these rum punches can be really strong, so partake in their deliciousness responsibly. And also have a few hangover remedies lying around. You'll thank me later!

Barbados Rum Punch
- 1 oz Lime Juice fresh if available
- 2 oz Simple Syrup
- 3 oz Barbados Old Gold Rum
- 4 oz Water
- 3 dashes of Bitters
- Freshly Grated Nutmeg
- Combine ingredients into a cocktail shaker. Add ice, shake well and strain into an ice filled glass. Garnish with a lime wedge and grated nutmeg. A maraschino cherry is optional.
This cocktail is perfect for a summertime gathering or wedding signature drink. You can make it in large batches beforehand, so all you need to do is pour over ice, garnish and serve! Just remember: if using fresh ingredients, your rum punch will have a 3-5 shelf life. Bottoms up!
